Bio-Web Solutions specialises in offering back end development and integration for certified organic operators. It is run by Ric and Jo Easton who have operated a certified organic wholesaling business from Sheffield, Tasmania since 1991.

Ric has developed their Bio-Distributors website and the backend so that even Jo, a self confessed technophobe, can use it. He is currently working on simplifying interactions with Southern Cross Certified, to whom they will be moving their organic certification as a wholesaler and repacker to in April 2025.

Ric has also helped a number of community groups around Sheffied to develop their websites which have contained backends which helped them achieve particular tasks.

• The Kentish Voice which needed a web redesign and a migration to a new server as well as the ability for readers to subscribe to receive a digital copy of the local newspaper or subscribe to receive it by post.
• The Working Art Space Sheffield which needed a way to handle the sales of member's artwork from the art gallery they run in Sheffield.
• Nic's Cradle Challenge a fundraising bicycle ride in memory of our son, Nic who passed away in 2014.
• Mt Roland Preservation Society Inc. which was set up in response to a cable way proposed for our local mountain.
• Northern Vets Cycling Club. which Ric still maintains even though he hasn't ridden with them for about ten years.
• A gift regiser for Ric & Jo's daughter's wedding where guests could select a gift from a list provided. This is no longer active.
• A website designed to catalogue different locations, eg waterfalls or restaurants, or activites such as cycling or yoga or other user selected category with all input user submitted. Although this website was working, it needed further development and was never placed on the web.

He has developed and worked on these and a number of other websites using Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla and Concrete.

Ric's programming history goes back to his early years at Monash University (1968) where the computer had it's own building and program code was punched into cards. Before that was a brief holiday job with Australian Paper Manufacturers where he programmed on a mainframe computer via a telephone link and feeding code in using hole punched paper tape.

In that time he has learned Basic, Fortran, Algol, Java, php, css, javascript, MySQL and probably more he has forgotten about [Update - he has just remembered assembler coding he used to develop a program to run the business - at this stage we did not have a web site. Jo remembers well the hassle we had trying to get our Atari computer to "talk to" our developing web site.].

He will be keen to talk to you about any projects you have in mind and is particularly keen to help any community groups that can't afford too much for a web site or a backend solution to a site they alreay use.
